Happy 150th Canada: Here are Some Reasons we Should be Proud to be Canadian

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to my blog. Today I'm going to be sharing with you some reasons we should be proud to be Canadian in honour of Canada's big birthday!

Disclaimer: Before we get started I just wanted to say two things. 1) That these are my personal opinions, and I'm not trying to offend or degrade any other countries, and 2) that this is a speech that I wrote so if the wording is a little off that is just because it was originally a speech.

And if you missed my last post, of the Lone Star review be sure to check it out here:

But anyways, here is my speech entitled why we should all be proud to be Canadian:

Speech: Why We Should All Be Proud to Be Canadian
This  great country may be known around the world for its super sweet syrup, invention of poutine or fanatic love for the game of hockey. But there is much more to love about Canada than just meets the world eye. Good morning fellow students, and Mr. with the big 150 birthday coming up for this great nation, I've decided to round up all the top reasons that we should be proud to be from the true north, strong, and free.

Canadians know that every single person should have the right to be happy in their life, I mean it shows, when do you not walk into a Tim Hortons or hockey arena and get that truly happy Canadian feeling. It really is indescribable. With that being said, it's really no surprise that Canada ranks fifth in the global happiness index, produced by the United Nations. People say it's because of our pretty amazing landscape, that makes us extra joyful, or our very cold winters. But whatever the reason people may think, we should all be so incredibly proud to live in such a happy country! Because unfortunately right now there are a lot of countries that aren't as happy. Issues like war, and violence really are taking a toll on our world and making it overall a less happy place to be. Every single country, city, and region wants to be happy, but sometimes that's very hard to achieve, and I'm so proud and grateful to live in a place with so much happiness, joy, and smiles all around. I try my best to be as happy a person as I can be, and I think living in such a cheerful, heartwarming country really helps with that.

Canada is also known around the world for being undeniably friendly, and welcoming. But I bet you didn't know, Canada ranks number one for it's global reputation, based on an international study. Reputation basically means opinions associated with a certain person or place. Now, I know exactly what you're thinking. Why on earth should we care about what other people think about our country, because after all we know it is a great place, and that's all that matters, and that is true, however, we should be so very proud that people think just as highly about this wonderful country as we do, because let's face it, sometimes Canada tends to be overlooked by some of it's respectively more popular countries. So it's great to see that people show so much respect to Canada.

Another reason that we should all be proud to be Canadian is that, well every country unfortunately, has some sort of negative stereotype associated with it (most of the time), but people really and truly just can't find anything negative to say about Canada (I mean except for the fact that it’s been 25 years since a Canadian team won the Stanley cup). Anyways, seriously, I'm not kidding. People say all the time that Canadians are too polite, say sorry to much, or even that we say "eh" constantly. And although the "eh" thing isn't very true (I mean when do you here that). Let's just say that we should be  proud to be from a nation where, it's hard for people to find something negative to say about us, where there only bad thing is that we're too polite. Sorry other countries but if you're trying to come up with something negative, last time I checked that's a compliment, but keep trying.

I know that there are some days that we wake up and think how much we really don't want to go to school. But I have good news for you. Thanks to all the hard work that our teachers, students, EA's, principals, and staff put in every single day; Canada is ranked as the best educated country in the world. That basically means that Canada has the best post secondary education rate. Did you know that 51% of Canadian adults have a post secondary degree proudly hanging on their office wall. We are the only country in the whole world with over half of our population holding post secondary degrees. We should all be proud to be from a country where people work hard to further their education and create a better life for themselves and their country,  to create a better tomorrow, because a lot of countries lack good education.

Therefore, I think it goes without saying, that there are far, far more reasons to be Canadian proud than just poutine, and maple syrup.  These were only a few of the reasons why we should be proud to be Canadian because let me tell you, the list could go on forever. I feel that we are all so lucky, and blessed to be able to experience, and witness the 150 birthday of this great nation, and how proud. That's 150 years of history, 150 years of Canadian pride, and more than 150 reasons why we should be proud to be from the great white north. Happy 150 birthday Canada. We hope it's a great one. Thank you!

I hope that you enjoyed my speech! Be sure to comment down below if I missed anything!

Happy 150th Canada!

Restaurant Review: Lone Star Texas Grill

Hey Everyone,

Welcome back to my blog.

Today I'm going to be doing something that I've never done on the blog before, and that is a restaurant review. I'm going to be doing a review on Lone Star Texas Grill. The location I went to was in Hamilton Mountain, but there are several other locations throughout Canada.

Before we get started be sure to check out some of my other posts, because I'm sure you will love them! But anyways, without further ado let's get on with the post.

Okay so I'm going to be judging in a few different categories, out of 5 including food, variety, atmosphere, service, and decor.

1) Food: 4/5

I rate the food a 4/5 because, I ordered the chicken fingers with fries (I know at Texas place that's a little odd), and I thought they were great. The chicken was cooked well and had a thick crispy breading, and the fries were crispy, delicious, and golden. But the place they lost a point is that my mom ordered the fajitas, which is their signature dish, and I loved the plating and style, but i didn't think the fajitas were so fabulous that they should be considered their signature dish.

2) Menu Variety: 4/5

I rate the menu variety 4/5 because I feel that it had a wide variety of different Texas inspired dishes which make it easy for the average person to find a delicious Texas meal to enjoy. The place where it lost points is that, I feel that from my experience the kids menu could have a little more variety since a lot of kids are picky eaters, so they could have a little more menu variety to honour that.

3) Atmosphere: 4.5/5

I rate the atmosphere 4.5/5 because I feel that it had a great, fun, rodeo style atmosphere. The wood and plaid style tables and walls added to that atmosphere along with the cowgirl and cowboy dressed servers. Overall it felt like a fun good time. The place where it looses the extra half point is that i felt that it was lacking the slightest bit of fanciness that you expect from a restaurant. I mean even though it isn't supposed to be fancy restaurant it lacked that slight fanciness.

4) Service: 3.75/5

I rate the service 3.75/5 because the food was not exactly lickety split. We went at an odd time of about 3 in the afternoon, where there were only a few tables occupied so I would've expected a little bit faster service. It gained points because our server was nice and was able to answer any questions we had. The only other place they lost points is that, when the servers weren't serving us I felt they were a little unprofessional.

5) Decor: 5/5

I rate the decor 5/5 because I absolutely love the decor. I think it was very fitting for the style of restaurant. I loved the DIY, Texas feel that it had to it. The decor just made the dinner. It gave it a something that separates it from other restaurant, and I thought it was great.

I think that Lone Star is a fabulous restaurant for a party environment, or a family meal. Overall I think that it is a good restaurant that people can enjoy for all types of reasons.

I hope that you consider this before making a restaurant decision.

Yee-haw. Thanks for reading.
